Smoking and Alcohol

  • Regular smoking has been shown to increase the likelihood of abdominal weight gain by 2 fold in men and 2 ½ fold in women.
  • Alcohol intake of over 4 units a day is associated with increased weight gain, particularly in women under the age of 35 years old.
